Pumpkin Pie Weekend

On the day after Halloween, I cut the small "display" pumpkin in half (according to the directions from the internet), and Anna scraped all the stringy stuff and seeds out with an ice-cream scoop. The seeds and strings went all over the kitchen and the pumpkin halves slipped through the fingers a couple times, too, but it was fun. Once the halves were cleaned, it was time to steam them. After cooking, we scooped the pumpkin "mush" right out of the rind and mashed it up. Finally, the pumpkin puree was ready to take to Grandma's house to mix with eggs, milk, sugar, and spices and then pour into a baking dish. We put it into the oven and eventually.......ate that delicious pumpkin pie!
